Ren Geisick Releases Second Full-Length Album, The Place I Planned To Go

SAN JOSE, CA - Americana singer/songwriter Ren Geisick announces the release of her second full-length album, The Place I Planned To Go, on June 20, 2025. Following the release of lead single “Don’t Start Telling Me the Truth” on April 25, 2025, the album features 14 original songs about outlaws, heartache, and mercy, and shows what Ren has always been: a country singer.

The Place I Planned To Go is about not giving in to the expectations that so often keep us down in love and in our creative pursuits. From "Just a Little at a Time", an anthem about taking your time, to the title track "The Place I Planned to Go", an introspection on the expectations we hold for our future, and the comedic, Motown-style "15 Cents", these songs all reflect the elements of hope and fear that run deep in the life of a musician, and run right alongside the day-to-day life struggles that we all face," says Ren.

Recorded with her band, and producer, Mikel Ross, at Lucky Recording Company in Brisbane, CA, the tracklist includes:

  1.  Don’t Start Telling Me the Truth

  2.  Outlaw Song

  3.  I Still Pay

  4.  I Dare You

  5.  Don’t Put it Off

  6.  The Place I Planned to Go

  9.  The Music

About Ren Geisick

Performing since 2011, Ren Geisick has become a beloved voice on the Bay Area music scene. With a background in jazz and influences of country western music of the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, she uses her luscious vocals to perform Americana originals that speak powerfully of family, sorrow, and love. In 2017, she released her debut album Ren, Love Song, produced by folk/pop powerhouse Jesse Harris, which signaled a move from straight ahead jazz towards a more Americana sound. Featuring original music by Ren, Ren, Love Song introduced a new chapter in her career with a clear focus on songwriting and performances in Nashville and New York City. In January 2022, she released Ruby EP, inspired by the life and catch phrases of her Grandma Ruby from Oklahoma. During the Pandemic, Ren taught her herself how to play ukulele and guitar and began live streaming performances from home and utilizing guitar in her songwriting.

Ren grew up in Los Gatos, CA and graduated with a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at Cal-State Long Beach. She has received an Ella Fitzgerald Scholarship and was previously named an Outstanding Jazz Vocalist by DownBeat Magazine.
